Our society is bombarded with social media. Instagram, snapchat, facebook, twitter… just to mention a few. What do we see on these sites? Gorgeous vacations, edited family photos, engagements, and (my favorite! 😉 ) ootd’s – outfits of the day.
Fashion. I will be the first to admit that it isn’t my strong suit. My fashion consists of: comfy, casual, and does this cover all of the right things?
Sometimes I am intimidated by fashion. Not being able to pull off certain styles. Never wearing the same things that the hip mom is wearing in her IG post. But then I remember this:
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6: 13-17
I think I need to start reading this passage every morning when I wake up. It is such a HUGE reminder of what is actually important and necessary in our lives. At the end of the day, God could care less about how we look on the outside. He cares about our heart, our mind, and our relationship with Him.
So, here is to “No Make-Up Sundays”, capsule wardrobes, and more time in God’s Word than in front of a mirror.
